Alertas Feministas (Feminist Alerts) Movement – Uruguay

Join us for an inspiring discussion with Victoria Furtado and Valeria Grabino, feminist researchers and activists from Montevideo, as they share insights into the powerful Alertas Feministas (Feminist Alerts) movement and its impact on participants and Uruguayan society.

Since 2014, the “Coordinadora de Feminismos del Uruguay” has organized powerful public actions in response to every femicide. A defining feature of these Feminist Alerts is a choreographed ritual that celebrates the physical strength of women, creating a new way of doing politics with their bodies.

Victoria and Valeria will discuss:
– The significance of the Feminist Alerts actions.
– The political impact of these movements on women’s rights in Uruguay.
– How collective choreography serves as both protest and empowerment.
We look forward to hearing from participants about the effects and experiences of feminist movements in different parts of the world!
